my 7-8 year old 64" Pioneer big screen just started this the other night. When my wife turned on the tv the screen and guides were all shaded in red. After about ten minutes it returned to normal for the rest of the evening.

The next morning I turned it on and the red was there again. After five minutes same results ...normal.

Does it sound like a gun is gone if thats the right thing to question and would it be too expensive to fix versus buying a new set?

I looked at convergence on the menu when it was red and the screen was all red and so were the convergence bars. When normal the bars are lined up pretty close ...

(There may be more help in the CRT Projectors area.) It might be a solder connection, because the image normalizes. Are there any retrace lines in the red picture?

So far we haven't noticed any lines on the screen ...
