I'd have to go with the RC-10's

Well... price does not always mean better. Talk the Polk VM series for example (very expensive as well). Much of the cost are due to the materials to make the tower look good. You're compromising on design to make the speaker slim. The RC series is a pure speaker through and through. My money is still on the RC-10's over the R270's.

By the way... if you're comparing R270 $1000 speakers, why don't u pick on something around its price range? Energy RC-70's for example are $1000/pr at Vann's right now. I'd put my money on the RC-70's

If he wants to stick with Monitor Audio, I'd rather go for RS6's for that price. Very sexy looking as well.
