Back in the late 80's possibly early 90's Henry Kloss/Cambridge soundworks designed a speaker system that was pretty much a sub-sattelite system and it was one of the first that actually sounded great. It had two stand mounted mini bookshelf speakers and a bass-module. It may have been one bass module/subwoofer per channel. I saw something about one once that got great reveiws. These speakers are before my time, but some of the older more experienced people may know what I am talking about.

I have the current CSW system with MC305 fronts and S200 surrounds. They still sound good.
They can be found at www.hifi.com and have a great sale going on with an extra 25% off the factory direct price with the coupon code DAD25

IIRC: The first of the Cambridge SoundWorks 'Ensemble' systems was a 2+2 [satellites, Woofers] configuration, later versions included a 2+1 configuration.

Thanks I think that was the one.
