Hello all,
I just recently bought the WD TV HD media player, and I have been pretty impressed so far.
One thing I can't seem to figure out is how to get the metadata of Apple m4a audio files recognized correctly. It seems like when I browse all music, it puts all of my m4a files into the "Others" folder. I can browse by folder just fine, but browsing by any other type (genre, artist, etc) is useless right now because of this. Do I need to rename the m4a file to something else? Is there a way around this?
Also, searching seems to be pretty worthless for me at the moment. For me at least, I find myself wanting to find a certain album by a specific band (I can't remember the album name, just the artist). So I search by artist but it returns an alphabetized list of all songs by this artist. It would be nice if they were sorted according to album and numbered as well. Currently, there is no good way (short of browsing directly) to search for an artist and play just one of their albums. I have seen other people in the forums complain about this, so hopefully this will be remedied. The user interface could definitely use a lot of work towards making this a lot easier to find music you are looking for. When you have a ton of music, scrolling down to them just isn't an efficient use of time.
I am definitely impressed with the formats that this device can handle, but the UI needs some serious work. Does anyone know of a thread or document with tips and tricks for this device? I read the users manual, but it's pretty vanilla. Man, it would be cool if they open sourced this thing!
