View Full Version : WDTV Pre-Release FW 1.02.10!!
sinker442 09-20-09, 08:15 AM And why are you so sure? They say is "planned". Know you something better than this?
Yes, I know that you did not pay for it and there is no way they are going to give to you for free.
Don't get me wrong, I used to own it, I've been there ;)
I didn't bought firmware updates but they came with some capabilities never mentioned anywhere before. Also more people want to buy and will check the competition or seek comments from previous users like all us here.
For example they didn't buy it for Popcorn player -as I know. It was provider at much later time.
They will not give anything to me for free - I am not asking that, just they want me to be their customer. This is the way the market works. Or not?

And in that time, people will have WD TV 2 to choose instead another player!
This is how big companies work! For them you have to buy more and more! When a player is lauched, its almost a finished product! They release 2 or 3 updates and there you go! Go buy our new and super player that does everything that the previous do and more! Thats the rules of the market right now!
I have a WD TV... it was fun for some time... now I will buy a diferent player... maybe ION! I'm tired of non existing support!
microcens 09-20-09, 09:56 AM Please the greek idx/sub is still out of sync, only the srt ext is fixed! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
I am using exclusively idx/sub subtitles with 1.2.10. No such problems. I have seen already hundreds of video to say that with great certainty.

bUT THE GREEK IDX/SUB FORMAT IS STILL BLINKING!
There is no especially GREEK IDX/SUB format. The idx/sub uses bitmaps. Has no knowledge of any language or character set.
There is some blinking some times but not really a problem.
Use AVIAddXSubs to convert srt to idx/sub with WDTV 1.2.10 firmware version.

i mean in greek subtitles and the blinking is annoying and WD box doesnt say that subs should be blinking
The blinking for greek srt is solved in firmware 1.2.10. That's all say. Have you flash it?

the blinking is fixed only in the SRT format but it exists in IDX/SUB format!!Yes i have flash it
mytbyte 09-20-09, 03:52 PM ALL IDX/SUB are blinking not just Greek...as someone already pointed out, they are not text but bitmaps...
I don't expect new features or DTS downmix, but i do expect bug fixes like idx/sub outlines and blinking...audio desync? well, some swear it's there, some think it's urban legend :D

Includind WD dev team! :D
Derelict_Drvr 09-20-09, 07:27 PM Why did you install a "Pre Release Beta" firmware? I run the last stable release FW and have never had any problems using my WDTV other than those caused by bad rips and my own stupidity.
If I was having as many problems with mine, I would just get rid of it somehow and buy one of the several that are advertised here. Problem solved (maybe).

Yes! And the movies that were working until 1.02.03, are not working till 1.02.10... so I believe that is WD stupidity! ;)

Actually WD doesn't say anywhere that idx/sub are supported at all.
I don't expect new features or DTS downmix, but i do expect bug fixes like idx/sub outlines and blinking
See above. Of course, it makes you wonder if unofficial support is there why would anyone in their right might lock 2 colors of the palette to white so the subs become less readable?

LEARN ABOUT FORMATS BEFORE POSTING!:
the SUB listed on the WD TV page refers to the text format SUB, not the bitmap format IDX/SUB aka Vobsub. Why do you think they wrote SUB instead of IDX/SUB?

dawoofa 09-22-09, 02:07 PM I just bought a WDTV Mini. I was amazed how small it is it is about 1/3 the size of WDTV. It can do DVD's manu, Have a Preview of the movie when you select it. The Graphic interface is really simple and look nice
Hopefully the next WDTV fw release will have at lease 2 of these feature.
it's coming any minute now!!
