Hi All,

So, I've had my Sammy 61 DLP for about 6 or 7 years now. Replaced the lamp 3 times in it's history. Now, a new problem. When you fire it up, as soon as the color wheel starts to spin, I get a loud buzz coming from the area of the color wheel housing. It is not from either of the two cooling fans mounted horizontal or vertical, but seems to be from the wheel area itself. Is it time for a new set? Something tells me this part will cost more than the TV! :eek:

The color wheel will not cost very much at all if you do it yourself. There are detailed instructions in numerous locations, including elsewhere on this forum on how to do the repair. I think the part is about $150.

Problem is, i don't know if it is the color wheel. Are there more components there I should look at?

Also, now I am getting two blinking green lights over one red blinking...

If you're getting a loud buzz as soon as the wheel starts to spin, then it's almost certainly the color wheel.

If it's the color wheel, when you open the back of the tv, you may be able to see some pieces of glass in the bottom of the tv which fall off the wheel as it breaks up. So look inside and see what you see. If the wheel hasn't broken up yet, it will soon, so keep checking. The glass is usually the way to know for sure.
