Gameplay is still stiff. todrigo 06-18-09, 10:43 PM I just downloaded it. I'm counting on this game being good so I can use up the EA store credit I have. We'll see in a little while. thebigdaddye 06-19-09, 01:17 AM in my opinion it's terrible. from the graphics, to game play and controller layout to the play calling screen it just sucks. i still prefer the ps2 version over this. the feel of the game is much better on the ps2 version unless this demo is nothing like the final game ,but i bet it's 95% the same as far as gameplay/graphics. i mean if you move a player just a bit during a passing route they make such drastic cuts/moves it's unreal and throws you off your route. the player does like a 90 degree cut and it's just dumb. oh well guess i will pick it up for the ps2 and save $20 and put that towards nhl 2010 for the ps3. ea real needs some competition so they don't just update rosters and add a feature to the game that was on an older ps2 version from 4-5 years ago. just my 2 cents happycamper515 06-19-09, 03:17 PM I downloaded the demo last night and thought it was an improvement gameplay-wise over '09. AI QB threw more incomplete balls in one game than I may have seen all last season in '09. I didn't see much of pass rush but had to tell after just one game, I'll play around a bit more tonite or over the weekend. wolfyncsu7 06-22-09, 09:09 AM Fairly unimpressed. I'm really not liking the swinging "action" cam during gameplay. I also don't care for the overhead coach cam to show your play before you hike it.... too disorienting. The actual gameplay doesn't seem very fresh compared to '09. The running is still very twitchy and looks unrealistic. $mitty 06-23-09, 10:12 AM Downloaded it last night and played thru a game with one of my friends. It was fun, but neither one of us has really played much football on the next-gen consoles and we weren't too impressed. I used to buy Madden or NCAA every single year and play the living crap out of them on PS2. The games feel like they haven't evolved too much since then (just bought Madden 08 for $5 last week). You'd think with the power and capabilities of these new systems that they'd build a new game engine and design a better football game. Just thinking about all the amazing games I've played on PS3 and how awesome a football game could be, I can't believe how lazy EA Sports is about these franchises. At least Fight Night comes out today! _Avarice_ 06-24-09, 12:35 AM Played one full game and wasn't expecting much....and I wasn't disappointed. Gameplay seems relatively unchanged and less than stellar. The most annoying thing I noticed is the terrible voice work in this game. I may be spoiled by The Show, but most lines had terrible delivery and were often not pertinent to the action. utgotye 06-27-09, 02:34 AM I found passing the ball to be far too easy, even on All-American. I thought they tinkered with the passing a bit because it was easier to make the hard, yet floating passes. You know the ones that drop right over the LB's head/hands on posts or slants? Dangerous throws but they didn't seem to get tipped nearly as often as I remember from older games. Oh and Oklahoma's secondary can't defend wheel routes worth a damn. Running the ball is just awkward, even on Freshman. On All-American, it was damn near impossible. The only decent rushing I did was with the option or QB scrambles. It just felt weird, like the controller didn't want to do what my fingers wanted. The control stick felt like it had a dead zone of sorts. I'd push it and it wouldn't do anything, push a little more and suddenly he's flying. Same thing on defense, coverage is fairly straightforward, not hard but not easy, but I got burned by a couple runs. Scheme might've had something to do with that. I probably blitzed too often. It also seems more difficult for the D-lineman you control to get to the QB, but your buddies seem to have an easier time of it. It didn't matter which lineman I controlled, I drew a double team probably 9/10 times. The play calling screen sucks BIG time. I hated it when changed it to that in Madden and I still hate it. It takes far too long to find plays compared to the older, horizontal style. I guess the thing I liked about it the most was that I could pretty much fine tune the controls to an older style. Oh and they kept the same audible scheme, which is fine with me. But the controls is a big deal. The game can look great (read: eh, it was ok) but who cares if the controls suck? All and all, I probably won't bother unless some of my friends start buying PS3s. And they'd be more likely to buy Madden anyway. |
