My 3 year-old Magnavox 32MT6015D/37B has been hooked up to my new Magnavox DVD-HDD recorder(H2160MW9A) and I have selected to use the component video hookup each unit has so I can utilize the 480p output signal as I am under the impression my Magnavox tv is compatible with 480p signal input. Well, it apparently is not as when I select the signal in the setup for the recorder, the display goes all distorted and after 15 sec. the setup resets itself back to 480i. I have called the Magnavox support folks on the tv and they said the set IS 480p compatible but my setup experience indicates otherwise. Can anyone out there lend any insight/guidance/explanation? My ops manual for the tv is somewhat lacking in what signal input the set is compatible with so I am going with the fact it has the CV input hookup and the support folks said so.

Help?

Not trying to be Captain Obvious here, but are you sure you are using component video connections and not composite video ones by mistake? Composite will only handle 480i signals.

Don't mind you asking(Captain Obvious) yes, the cable set was purchased new as component video cable set, one/each, green, blue and red. That's what the packaging was labeled, too.
