I have been watching OTA HDTV for the past 3-4 years on our Sceptre 37" LCD. A few days ago "poof" no display on the DTV. The HDMI comnnection to the HTIB system works fine so the kids have just been watching videos.

It was two days afetr the change and I had all the newer stations programmed in. Right now I don't have the money for a new TV even though I thought Yeah this is my chance to go bigger. What I would like to do is get a cheap tuner and eventually move this set to the basement to replace the analog TV.

So to my question - What do I need? and next Where can I get one? Most places I've looked don't even have HDTV tuners that put back out HDTV since all sets had to have them. I'm at a loss and don't want to spend large amount. Otherwise I'll have to buy a new TV but my 37" LCD works well for a computer screen @ 1080p. Please help

Thanks

Samsung makes a nice little Set Top Box (STB) that you can get at Best Buy for $180. The model number is DTB-H260F. It is very compact in size and has very good sensitivity. It has both HDMI and component outputs for HDTV.

Since you are tight on cash do a CECB for $15 after coupon. No it won't be HD, but it will get you by for now.

No - it won't be HD - but it will get you a picture (use the RCA audio / composite or S-Video jacks for best picture)

As far as settings - I'd suggest letter box on the CECB, and zoom on your TV to fill the screen.

Check Craigslist/Ebay for an OTA HD tuner like Samsung SIR-T451, some old satellite TV boxes can do OTA HDTV (Sony SAT-HD200) with a good signal. The Channel Master7000 is a good DTV SD converter box (Solid Signal.com), good reception of erratic signals.
