Hi, All

Has anybody successfully receive local HD channels from FIOS with QAM tuner?

I am using Centronics ZAT 502 HD for OTA channels. It has been working like a charm.

I recently installed FIOS internet only. The technician is kind enough to route all signals via MoCa coax cable (with splitter), which is the exact same setup one would have if he orders both FIOS internet and TV.

However my ZAT 502 HD couldn't find any channel in QAM mode. Does anyone have the same problem?

I am trying to identify whether the problem is with FIOS or ZAT 502 HD
I do notice that searching frequencies seem odd. Are these predefined by the tuner, or provided by FIOS?

Thanks for the help.

If you only ordered FIOS internet why would expect them to also provide TV service on your line?
You will receive more local digital channels OTA then you will receive with clear QAM over cable since the cable companies are not required to provide all of them unencrypted.

Fios provides all the local stations - in SD and HD, the local public channels, the music channels, WGN (SD), the Weather Channel (SD), and a few info channels in the clear on QAM. All the rest of the channels are encrypted. The digital broadcast version of the locals are usually placed at QAM 72 to 7x, but the PSIP channel mapping is also provided.

However, the TV channels are provided with a different signal output from the ONT (Optical Network Terminal). The internet access on Fios has it's own fiber wavelength to provide plenty of internet bandwidth. If you ordered only Internet service, why would the installer hook up the TV signal from the ONT to the co-axial cables running into your house? If you want TV service through Verizon, you will have to call them and get them to hook it up. Verizon does off a basic TV service with just the local and public channels for a low rate, but they don't publicize it.

There are a couple of FIOS threads here - lots of info there. You'll get everything you need - tho you may have to ask nicely to get HDMI cables.
