Ok,
So here's the deal. A store here went out of business. I purchased an entire room of items that weren't really appealing to the general public. One of these would be a Dwin HD-700 and Dwin Transcanner.
I have no idea how to test this stuff to see if it works, what it should do or shouldn't do, etc. Is there anything specific that I should or should not do when not knowing the status of if it's working? Is this just something I shoudl sell as-is, or possibly something with good potential?
Thanks for any advise as to what I should do with this.

Hook up the Transcanner to the PJ with the 5 BNC type cable connection. Hook up a DVD player to the TS set the player at 480i and fire both up. You'll have to set up the geometry, go to the Dwin site and download the manual. When all set up the Dwin does great for DVD or TV. If you have the Trans 2 you could component send HDTV signals.

Also just a heads up that the DWIN is probably not worth all that much in today's market. I believe it is a 7" set and that market is dead, the 8" sets are on life support and the only real activity these days appears to be on the 9" sets. You best bet is to try to find a local buyer as shipping will be more than the projector is worth. Also summer is an awful time to sell these historically so you might want to wait until fall but then again these are falling price everyday. Please note the DWIN assuming good condition tubes will throw a nice picture it is just that there is very limited appeal in these beasts anymore.
If you do try to sell it you are going to want to remove the lenses and take a picture of the tube faces. The tubes are everything in the set. If they show wear or burn (yellow or browning in part of the tube face) you set is essentially worthless other than any residual value in the parts which if you are in North America probably isn't much since DWINs are not all that popular here.
The Dwin HD700 is a wonderful projector to have once it is properly installed and dialed in. I have had one in my theater going on 9+ years now and I couldn't be happier.

I have 2 HD700s and can help you with anything you need to know. It is an excellent PJ and will throw a very nice 1080i or 720p picture. Let me know if you have any questions.

If you want to sell it, I've been buying them for $100-250 depending on the condition. I agree with the others, it's not worth selling really, but does make a nice little set that should last a few years.
Part it out if it has low hours, I need a blue tube.
WOW 100 to 250 CURT damn
Thats robery really the projector is worth more then that....Ive seen somone listing one on ebay for 1700.00 in mint conditon!
The DWIN HD700 is an excelent projector. It a shame these 7" projectors dont get any love here. As far as 7" projectors its got to be one of the best ever made.
The Transcoder your talking about is problably the DWIN TRANSCANNER.....The projector is so much better then what that transcanner can do for it. The TS is worthless but the projector still has good value depending what condition its in. In a crap economy though and CRT pretty much dead, CRT projectors are worthless.

Umm, that's MY projector on ebay, but you'll also notice that even in mint shape and a warranty, it's got no sales. I do get a lot of parts and repair inquiries though with that ad.
no respect.....I love my HD700 :)

I don't know why people bash the transcanner. I tested it with HQV and visual tests with Galaxy Quest and Star Trek Insurrection and It passed with flying colors. I just took out a Pany Faroudja player and went back to the Sony 7700 I got with the Dwin deal. The interlaced player looked way better than the high rated 480p Pany machine, the TS does a fine job deinterlacing it and scaling is sharp and crisp.
The Panasonic Blu ray BD80 I have is the only thing that looks better. But it can't play my classic 4.3 stuff, ergo the 480i player.
Leave that Transcanner alone, Stacey Spears gave the TS1 a super positive review and he knows what he's looking at. Leave the little guy alone, he's just fine. :)
