Hi everyone, pretty neat site here, glad I found it.

I have a Olevia HDTV, I do apologize, I am nto very savvy with this kind of stuff, but the wife and were wondering how we can recieve the local HD channels with using just the basic cable cord.

I live in Phoenix and our company is COX communications, heres the thing, my sister had a Vizio HDTV and she has the same standard cable we do, but she gets the HD channels, that we dont.

Any idea on how to get these channels?

I'm new to this game as well - but it seems if your monitor has a QAM tuner included, the HD channels will be found when you tell the TV to auto-program the channels. That's the way it worked for me on Comcast - I plug the cable straight into the TV. The HD channels will be beyond all the normal ones.

I suspect that the digital tuner in the OP's TV can only receive OTA digital channels and not QAM digital channels.
The cable coming out of the wall contains both the analog and digital channels, It is the tuner that is being used that determines which ones you can recieve. Therfore a clearQAM tuner can be used without any separate subscription as desciberd by Drmull2.
If the OP provide the model number of his Olevia we can probably determine better what it is capable of.
If his TV does have an OTA digital tuner then he will get more local HD digital channels with an antenna then will get with clear QAM from Cox.
