I'm debating about buying a used sub, specifically a Supercube I. Are there any issues I should be aware of? Do these age with time and use, or is a used sub a fairly safe investment? Any feedback would be appreciated.

You could expand this to almost any product, is it safe to buy a used car, used piano, guitar? It all depends on how it was taken care of, nobody knows unless you meet up with a very honest seller so it's always a risk. You hope that your inspection (if you can do one) will pick up any issues and find out if the item can be returned. I have a 10 year old Klipsch subwoofer that I bought used, it has performed well and still does. Could have gone the other way if it was abused. Not to sound rude but EVERYTHING ages with time and use, the Supercube I should be fine unless it lived a very hard life with its current owner. So if you can, inspect it, test it prior to buying it unless it's too far away. If he's local and refuses an inspection and test, obviously don't buy it. If he's selling it for a very good price it could be worth the risk, just like when buying anything used. |
