I'm frustrated with my reception of local channel 44.1 in my family room. I have a Channel Master CM 3020 mounted about 15' high. I have the signal splitter at about 8' of cable from the antenna. One line runs from the splitter about 12' to my bedroom TV where I am getting a signal strength reading through my DirecTV HD box meter of around 74% without any amplification. The second half of the splitter runs about 35' to my family room tv. There, without any amplification, I have serious tiling and freezing issues with a meter reading, through the same DirecTV HD box of about 50%. With the addition of a Phillips 20dB inline amp, the signal goes up to around 65% and is very watchable, but still has ocasional tiling.
I have run a test cable from the bedroom outlet to the living room TV with the same results.
If I add a Winegard AP 8275 pre-amp, would that be overkill?
I am also wondering if the pre-amp can be powered from my living room leg of cabling, after the spliter? The pre-amp would of course be installed before the splitter.

I will be happy to post screenshots of my coverage from TVFool as soon as I have the required 3 post (to post URL's). I am in Phoenix, AZ at 35th AV and Union Hills.
Thanks for help and suggestions.

Yes, it can. http://yhst-18278607509093.stores.yahoo.net/pico-0315.html

The HDP-269 preamp won't overload easily.

So you would recomend the HDP-269 over the AP 8275 for what I need?

I can't tell if a preamp would be overloaded, but the HDP-269 is least likely to have problems.
