I have a problem with playing VOB on the WD TV. I have ripped my DVD on HD. Means the complete structure is available. These DVD contains episodes. Some of that DVD's playing without problems if I start VOB _0. all epsiodes will play continusley. Not nice but it works. Now I have some DVD if I start I just can see the last episode on that DVD and whichever VOB I start after I can see only them. I get the message if I want to restart or continue and what ever I choose its the same as before. The same on the PC works , the only thing it will appear always the menue.
Is this depend on the DVD or is that a specific problem of the WD TV?

Rename the VIDEO_TS to anything else and try it that way...in case of .ISO or VIDEO_TS, WDTV will only play the largest VOB file...

I've ripped all my DVD's to single vobs and all of them play fine.

Even the DVD's with multiple episodes end up with a vob for each episode and work fine.

I use DVDshrink BTW.

I will try with rename of the Video_TS folder. Normaly I had also no problems to watch that episodes. I just start the first and then all was playing. But now I faced the second DVD with that . Dosent matter which VOB I start it shows always the same.

I tried and it works. Thanks for that hint. There are 2 issues with that. First there is a 3 or 4 sec. break if the device change the file. Its not nice if its happen in the same movie and it lost the setting for the selected audio channel. Means which language I ever select first it changes after VOB- change to the original one. What is strange because also the first starts with the orginial language. In the other scenarion it all starts with last language what I have selected long time before.

Are You trying to play the episodes by pressing OK or PLAY? Try both and see whichever does it for you...I don't have episodic DVDs so can't say for sure...

I imagine you use PLAY so episodes of the same title play as separate vobs instead as vobs of the same title...

Only Play works. If Im pressing OK the its just playing the selected VOB and after back to folder.

And another problem appears. After the 2. or 3. episode the sound is disappearing and sometimes the whole movie slow down. Sometimes it helps to switch the audio channel sometimes not. Then I have to leave to the folder and restart. Mostly it works. That problem is only happen on the beginning never in between or the end. Any idea?

I've had nothing but problems with vob files on the hdtv. I have been doing the same thing as a previous poster (using dvdshrink to rip to one vob), and most of the resulting files will play on the wdtv, but as soon as you try to fast forward or rewind, the video jumps all over the place and you can never get back to where you were.

To the op- does the length of the movie display correctly when you play the vob file, or is it shorter than it should be?

The lenght is displayed correctly. What Im really wondering is that it seems DVD's , esp. with episodes , have different structures. The mentoined problems occur with Dr. House, in every season but never on Disk 1. The shown length is always the length of the VOB-file. If I watch as. ex. Boston Legal I have no problem at all. I have to switch the correct audio channel and then it plays correctly and continusley. The lenght here is shown for the complete DVD. The only issue here is that is palying in a loop. Means after the last episode it starts again with the first.
The difference is that on Dr. House I rename the Video_TS folder (otherwise it will not work) and in Boston Legal I didnt.
Thats more strange as we discussing that WD doesnt have DVD support. But the devcie takes care about a Video_TS folder and behave differently.
