Hi all

I've got a tvix 5100 and never had a problem with it - plays everything i throw at it
although i would love support for .ass subtitles.

I'm now hearing alot of talk about all these new players on the market
playonhd, xstreamer etc

My question is simple really

Whats wrong with the tvix players (apart from price) which makes all these new players more appealing (the forums seem to be full of posts about htese new players but nothing about the tvix)

for me the tvix always works - network systme was simple, streaming works fine with all content 1080 too.

is there any advantage in me getting rid of the tvix and moving to one of these new streaming players (wdtv)
i like to have latest and greatest but if the latest and greatest isnt actually better than my tvix then i guess there is no point.

which is the current best player on the market?

and why?

also out of the new players - which is the highlight model ?

Xstreamer seems good but its not available ...

I am the same as you as I like to have the latest and greatest. However, if you are happy with the Tvix and it does basically everything you want then no reason not to stick with it.

The hype regarding the Xtreamer and WD TV is mainly the price. Right now the Xtreamer promises to do what many other NMTs do for half the price (not taking into account shipping, taxes, etc...). Granted the Xtreamer is nothing more then hype with absolutely nothing to back it up, so I would wait until these get in the hands of consumers and we can get some real world feedback.

The hype around the new PCH C-200 is that there is room to install a Blu Ray drive which can make the C-200 a more complete media streamer/player. Obvoiusly there are other things as well, like using the new Sigma chip, etc...

Also, keep in mind that the WD TV is not meant for streaming, to play back media you have to attach a external drive
