Cross posting in the B650 owners thread.
As some of you are aware, all recent samsung LCD TV's have an "auto-calibrate" or "ADC" option in the service menu that is used at the factory to calibrate the TV's to normal operating levels for brightness, contrast, etc.
They do this by putting a checkerboard test pattern on each input and choosing the calibrate function in the service menu. The menu will show "success" or "failure" for each input. As far as I'm aware, all sets should come from the factory showing success for these options in the service menu.
Some people tend to screw these settings up if they dont know what they are doing initiate the calibration without having the test pattern on the input.
My brand new LA32B650 shows as failure on all inputs even though I have not touched the options at all (I am familiar with this issue from previous sets). I thought it was just my set, but after checking the same model in a retails store, it showed the same "failure" state in the menu. I checked another nearby set and it was fine. It looks like a batch of TV's may have left the factory without being properley set calibrated.
Do you guys think I'm within my rights to ask Samsung to send a tech out with a patteren generator and calibrate my set under warranty?
EDIT: I spoke to Samsung, they put me in touch with the largest authorized service centre in my state, but they dont have the right equipment to do this. In fact they had no idea what I was on about, I had to explain how this setting worked. They don't even have a service manual for the "B" series sets.
I managed to find the service manual on the net in 10 mins and the authorized service centre doesnt even have one?!!
