I tried to get an answer on Curt's forum but it seems like it is beneath them to answer any question not related to HD capable projectors.

A mate of mine who is on a disability pension cannot afford anything better than the VPH600QM that he owns, it is developing the 'fungus' (aluminium salt build up) on the inside of the front glass of the tubes, mostly the green tube.

He is going to clean it with CLR but that may take some time and was interested in some tubes that I have in a VPH1020QM to use in the mean time.
The VPH1020QM has a fault that causes the blue tube to not light up properly, like it is deflecting the electron beam up towards the anode lead instead of scanning it across the tube face.
I can't seem to find an easy fix for the VPH1020QM so it is going to be a parts donor.

The VPH600QM has SD-187 tubes and the VPH1020QM that I have uses SD-130 tubes.

I remember that the SD-130 tubes will work in place of SD-187 but will only produce half the light output (300 lumens instead of 600).

What I need to know is will we need to swap the deflection yokes or can they be left in place when swapping the tubes from the VPH1020QM to the VPH600QM?

Please help.

Well what do you expect when there were over 45 views and 0 answers to a simple question and yet there were answers to questions from noobs about 1031's that could have been found with a simple search yet the answer I seek cannot be found with a simple search.

You also complain about and denigrate this forum yet come here to sell your wares.:rolleyes:

Dave I agree, seems as if you don't have a pair of G 90's hanging between your theater seats then you better move on. For the cost of buying 3 used tubes you could bump up to a 12XX series pj for less. I am not sure if the tubes you mention will swap out between the 2 pj's. Good luck with your search.

First off, I didn't see the post originally on my forum. I don't read every post on my forum, it's far too large at this point, and I'm in and out of town, trying to make a living..

Second, I have NEVER (to the best of my knowledge) bashed the avsforum, other than to comment about severe moderating that occurred here about three years ago, which is the only reason I actually put up my forum. I've always recognized that my role in the CRT market is largely due to the Avsforum, and constantly send people over here if I don't know the answer to a question, or if someone is asking me something HT related but outside of my scope of knowledge.

Third, I actually answered your question on my forum.

Fourth, doing a really quick search on only my forum, I found three threads that address exactly your question. Total search time: under a minute. There's also three threads that cover your question on this forum.
