I recently bought a SAMSUNG Plasma PN50B540 (2009 model) .
I spent a great deal of time researching this model against competitors in its class especially by PANASONIC. Finally I found a store that had both the Panasonic 50' G10 model and the Samsung PN50B550 sitting right next to each other. I spent an hour fooling around and was most happy with the Samsung PQ, menus, aesthetics etc.
My concern was reliability in Samsung. My co-worker had a wonderful experience with in-home service by Panasonic and so I called Samsung support and found that THEY STILL honor the 2 year warranty on Samsung 2009 plasma models.
Got the B550 and while wiring up my devices couldn't get the Harman Kardon AVR to display the setup screens and I couldn't get the Cable box and plasma to talk using HDMI. After changing cables, switching to component, replacing the cable set box I got to level 2 samsung support (their level 1 was useless). Their technician was courteous, and after a number of attempts, he scheduled for someone to visit me at home and fix my problem. Later that day I replaced my cable box for the 2nd time and IT WORKED:) Switched the AVR cable to RCA video and that worked too :) :)
I was feeling even better knowing that Samsung were there to support me and accommodated me at home just like Panasonic WITHIN 48 hours ;)
Now I am looking for a professional calibration settings for the B550 or B540.
Can anyone help?
thanks

In this forum, you will probably not find settings. You should be in the Plasma Flat Panel Display forum for that kind of information. This forum is for actual calibration of a display device.

Greetings
Funny ... if you know the value of professional calibration, why wouldn't you know that copying settings is more a waste of time. Better to take a test disc and coming up with your own best settings for your TV and the gear that you plug into it in your viewing environment.
The Plasma forum area is where you can swap settings until you are blue in the face. We are here to help you to actually calibrate the TV if you don't understand something.

Just in case you aren't "getting" what the other posters are saying... calibrating a video display requires a meter, software, knowledge of the calibration process, and knowledge of the capabilities of each display. It also requires "custom" settings for each display - sharing settings with someone who has had a calibration is often just as "bad" as out-of-the-box settings.
Setting the User Menu controls is NOT calibration. That's just "setup". And as Michael pointed out, you need your own test/setup disc like Digital Video Essentials - HD Basics (Blu-ray, less than $20 at Amazon) to do this right for your TV - copying somebody else's User Menu settings isn't likely to get you the best results. And that disc will ONLY help you set the basic controls in the User Menu. Calibration is a technical process requiring tools, technique, and knowledge.

If only Samsung's B550/560 series had anything other than "setup" controls...There is no CMS to adjust gamut, in User Menu or SM unfortunately. Makes a "professional" calibration really not seem worth it, better to just do some research and get a good colorimeter and HCFR it yourself...

Wasn't there a setting to change the model of 550 in the SM that allows CMS? Either way considering the issues OP dealt with just connecting all the devices, he should stay away from the Service Menu.
