Guys,
I've gone thru many threads but many are technical... if I get tired of accidentally stepping on my kids dvds and want to backup then stream them to a Television.... how do I play an ISO stored on my external hard disk on a tv? Is there a good way to BROWSE iso's like a roku netflix function using an extender or player so that I can play from the room rather than have to go to the computer to start it?
Tnx

Bob - you can use a player like the popcornhour A-110 or the WD TV as examples. These would attach directly to your tv, and the external drive would be attached to the extender. The popcornhour has room for an internal hard drive as well. You can then play/control from the room.

I bought a closeout media player and installed a 1 terabyte drive for the kids. The one I bought is no longer available but there are multiple options including those in the post above mine.
You mentioned streaming but if you are putting them on an external drive, a simple media player is going to save you headaches compared to streaming over your network. I ended up just disconnecting the network and use the HD 100% of the time.
The WD player does not have full ISO play function yet. I don't have the PH so I'm not sure how the ISO playback works. The Klegg Mediashare has full ISO playback. Once the kids pick the ISO file, it plays them just like the real disc including all menu functions and was selling for about 1/10th of retail price when I bought it.
Good luck.
