For example, as soon as the Giants games are over, DirecTV cuts the HD feed even though the postgame is broadcast in HD by Comcast. Anyone know the reason? Certainly can not be bandwidth as DirecTV is now showing both teams' HD broadcasts. And I can not see it being contractural; that is, CSN not allowing the HD postgame show. Anyone know?

What are you watching? Extra Innings? If so, that is for games only.

No, we are watching 696-1, CSNBA-HD. This happens all the time. I think its because D* does not show CSNBA-HD full time, and it's Comcast's way of sticking to non-subscribers of their service.
There has been some discusssion and communication with D* and Comcast here over this and other CSNBA-HD issues between Comcast and D*

Yes, it appears that it is a very strict interpretation of the "games only" policy. Apparently Comcast will not supply all HD broadcasts to another provider(DirecTV) unless they agree to 24/7 carriage of the channel. There are 9-10 Giants games in HD this year that have been/will be held from airing on DirecTV. The shutting down of the signal at the end of the game is likely an extension of the non-24/7 carriage issue.

It's possible other RSNs have similar contract stipulations.

The MLB EI Standard Def channels carry the post game shows. So, I'm thinking it's an effort to conserve HD bandwidth/satellite slots?
