I need something to help calibrate my plasma and am unsure what to get. Is DVE Digital esentials for Blueray good.

How in depth do you want to get ... the DVE BD won't have patterns for CMS work. Need the AVS free disc for that.

If you are talking about setting the controls in th User Menu -- that's not calibration and that's not what this calibration thread is about.

Since you didn't mention using a meter for calibration, I am assuming you aren't really calibrating - just looking for something that will help you find good user menu settings. That's step 1 to getting good images - true calibration is the only way to get your display to be as accurate as it can be.

Calibration is the technical adjustment of video display using a meter of some sort and calibration software that helps you decipher the meter readings in useful ways.

The Blu-ray Digital Video Essentials disc is the best disc you can get right now for setting the user menu settings - it's available for less than $20 with some shopping around.
