I calibrated my TV's saturation and tint using the blue filter that comes with Avia and all off the primary colors are at 0 on the color decoder patter with color set at -3. However when I go into the test patterns for the red and green, saturation is accurate but the tint setting is off a bit. My results for tint for the blue test pattern is -5, green test pattern -2, and red test pattern +3.

The Avia description says that one can set the tint using any of the 3 test patterns and get accurate results if the color decoder is accurate. Does this mean I should use a compromise tint setting of -1? Thanks.

This means that either:

1) the color filters are not completely filtering out the other primaries, thus misleading you.

2) the color decoder in the display is not correct.

Or both.

What TV is it, and how are you connected? And from what source?

It is a Panasonic 42PX60U.

Im connected using an HDMI cable from my Playstation 3. The same thing happens when using other sources as well (Xbox 360, Philips DVD player) using component cables.

Filter leakage IMO.

If it is filter leakage how do I set tint. Would this mean my color settings are incorrect as well?

You guess. Or you use colorimetry equipment...

I just confirmed I have filter leakage for all 3 filters. Basically they are worthless then for setting both color and tint. Am I correct or are they still better than nothing?
