I'm looking for advice for a sub. I currently have the following in my main system:

Mistubishi 62526 (62" projection LCD 720p tv)
Onkyo SR 504
Fronts: advent h-500
Mid: advent h-200
Back; advent h-200
I'm looking at getting a new DVD player, but at the moment, my really old one (Sonly DSC 300) is hooked up through optical and does a pretty decent job of pushing video/sound to the TV

I live in a high rise, so I can't have anything too crazy for fear of upsetting the neighbors. However, a nicely balanced system driven at regular sound volumes would be acceptable.

Budget: under $400
Size requirements/limits: None
Room dimensions. The living space is 15x15, but it is open on one side to the dining room and to the kitchen further away.
Primary uses: 50% TV, 30% movies, 10% gaming (computer), 10% music (cds/radio)
Listening habits: I like my sound to be slightly on the lower side when gaming or listening to music. TV sound is usually more background. I'm looking to put this system together mostly for movie watching.
Appearance requirements: None
Timeframe: I was hoping to get something in the next month, but if there is something really spectacular on the horizon, I'm willing to wait.

I'm in a similar position as stockboy. Probably similar usage requirements as well. (We watch a lot of TV, but I'm often lazy and just use TV speakers for non-movies or sports). Mostly want it for HT and my room is 13x25.

The reason I'm jumping in: My budget had been $200-300 and best recommendations I'd seen were the Energy s10.3 which had a great price going. If I could wait a week or two and save an extra $50, should I put in an order for the eD A2-300 as well? That amount is pushing what I'm comfortable with, but it seems to have great specs and reviews, and if it's that big a climb I'll spring for it.

My other question is, with the system that I currently have in place, is it worth it to purchase a $400 sub, or would it be better to spend a little less on the sub and maybe upgrade the speakers or receiver to something new?

Subs and spearkers are very different. Even though a sub is consider a speaker. In my opinion, spending good money on a quality sub can last you for years. New speakers will not do what a sub can do. It just doesn't happen. That's why it's a 5.1 system. The .1 makes a huge if not all the difference in a movie. I personally think, spend as much money on a sub as possible.
