when my new xbox arrives in the mail and i goto recover my old gamertag will it still be there with a silver account? or is it gone?

Not sure. what happens if you try to log in to xbox.com marketplace with your old gamertag?

Canceling a Gold account just makes it Silver.

You'll be able to turn it back to gold as soon as you log on. You'll just have to either enter a code from a subscription card or pay with a credit card. I'll be in the same boat as I can't seem to get my 360 to work with the internet over here.
