I just bought a new home with preinstalled wiring & speakers.
(Upstairs Bathroom) - 2 speakers with wall volume
(Upstairs Bonus Room) - 2 speakers with wall volume
(Downstairs) - 4 speakers with sub
(Outside Backyard) - 2 speakers with wall volume
(Outside Courtyard) - 2 speakers with wall volume

All wiring terminates to the downstairs media cabinet where I have a Harmon Kardon AVR 335.

Right now, I have the downstairs 5.1 hooked up to the receiver and everything works great! I now need a solution on how to hook up the upstairs and outside speakers.

The way I plan on using the system would be:

1.) Only the downstairs 5.1 (currently configured and works great).
2.) Only the outside.
3.) Upstais and downstairs.
4.) All Speakers on.

What extra equipment do I need to buy to make all the speakers work off of 1 receiver?

The receiver has a Zone 2. Do I connect that to a speaker selector for upstairs and outside? Do I buy a seperate receiver for the outside speakers?

Any advice or links to products would be appreciated!

Are they wired 70 volt or no?

How would I know if it's 70 volt or not? There's multiple wires coming into the media cabinet. Each set has 2 pair (red + black) & (green + white).

My guess would be 8 ohms, but you should contact your installer before hooking anything up. Since there are volume controls already installed, that would indicate a 70 volt distribution system.

Did he not leave you any more information?

They could be impedance matching volume controls for 8ohm speakers, so if that's the case you could just use the zone 2 output from the receiver and connect that to a speaker selector. The best thing to do would be to pop out one of the volume controls and look for a brand name and model # on it. That way you can be 100% sure what you are working with.

The volume controls are SpeakerCraft VCR60:

So is all I need is a Speaker Selector?
If so, which one will run all my speakers givin my current setup?

Here is a selector that should work http://www.htd.com/speaker-cables-accessories/Speaker-Selectors

Nice gear, I own a couple of their advanced whole house audio systems. Incredible customer service to boot.

On edit: If you need some oomph to your 4 zones, I would look at one of these too instead of a switch/selector. http://www.htd.com/amplifiers/A-2106-Stereo-Amplifier
