Probably to big for what you want though, but the sound is amazing compared to a standard speaker. Mike SoundChex 06-28-09, 10:14 AM Help me find a set of rear surround speakers . . . Look behind you! Looking for something relatively small, that's wall mountable. No bookshelf sized or in wall speakers. Looking to spend somewhere in between $300-$400 If you are looking for physically quite small rear speakers, you'll need to indicate what crossover frequency you can tolerate for your rear speakers. [ For example: Does your receiver's bass management function allow different crossover settings for front and rear speakers?] Jay1 06-28-09, 11:06 AM Your going to have to define small (h"w"d"). This surrounds only 4.5" deep, but the other dimensions may be too big? http://www.thespeakercompany.com/TSS-525-Dipolar-2-Way-Surround-Sound-Speakers-Pair-P48C10.aspx Knucklehead90 06-28-09, 01:08 PM Looking for something relatively small, thats wall mountable. No bookshelf sized or inwall speakers. Looking to spend somewhere in between $300-$400 I own a pair of the Emotiva ERD-1 (http://emotiva.com/erd1.shtm)s. They continue (after 6 months) to surprise me in what they are capable of. The sound quality is excellent. You can read reviews here (http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/home-theater-speakers/618-emotiva-ert-83-tower-speakers.html)and here (http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/speakers/bookshelf/emotiva-er-5-0-speaker-system-review/?searchterm=erd)on their performance. There are also numerous user reviews on the Emotiva Lounge (http://emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=speakerreviews). They are 4 ohm rated but aren't all that hard for a decent receiver to drive - as noted by Jim Clements in the review link I posted above in the Home Theater review. low96ac 06-29-09, 11:09 AM I am basically looking for something that will look good mounted on the wall with some great surround sound. In the previous home I lived in, I was ablt to get away with speaker stands in the rear so I have bookshelf sized speakers. However they are not wall mountable, and if they were, it would look a bit ghetto hanging on the wall. and for the question about the bass managment, I'm not quite too sure. I currently have a pretty old reciever (Denon 3803) however I do plan on upgrading that later this year. |
