So I purchased the Philips HTS 3544 home theater system about a month ago to go along with my Samsung 40" LCD. I have the following audio/video hookups:

Cable Box to TV (Audio/Video) = Component cables

Cable Box to HTS (Audio) = Coaxial cable

HTS to TV (Audio + Video) = HDMI Cable

I get DVD sound as well as regular TV sound through the speaker system. The problem is, I've noticed a significant sound delay (sometimes up to 1-2 seconds) when I'm watching regular TV and listening through the HTS speakers. This delay isn't there all the time, only when I've been watching for at least 20 mins. There is no problem with the built-in tv speakers, as these are still right on target, and there is no problem with DVD sound when I play a DVD. The problem is only when I listen to regular TV sound through the HTS speakers, and as I said, the problem isn't there all the time. There is no "audio delay" option on the HTS for TV sound, and the "audio delay" option for the DVD player is set at zero. What are my options? I still have 2 months left under the 3 month warranty. Should I try a new coaxial cable to the HTS? Should I try using RCA cables instead of coaxial for the audio from the Cable Box to the HTS? Or should I return the system immediately? Any help is appreciated.

Part of the problem is the broadcasts are not always in sync. Sloppy broadcast.
Some of the higher end AVR's with HDMI allow alignment of the audio to the video. Some do not.

Welcome to the digital world.

This is really a serious INDUSTRY problem. We need a time code embedded in the video and audio so they can be synced. Bad, bad industry. Slap hands. Quit adding useless features and fix the real problems!
