Hi,
I just upgraded my projector and got a sony g90. I've had multiple projectors over the past 15years, but have only had sitting on the floor. I'm thinking about putting this one on the ceiling, as it really is big, and takes up a lot of room. I like the idea of unistrut to mount it, as the unistrut structure seems pretty sturdy to me. The thing that I'm worried about is on the bottom of the g90, there are only 5 spots to screw into (and one of them is off line with the other 4), so that would leave me (4)M8 bolts, to hold up the 250lbs. That kind of scares me a little. Could anyone who has ceiling mounted a g90 give me some advice on how best to do this.
Thanks,
Michael

The "stock" mount and "locations" are more that enough to hold one of these "beast" in place!
Do you already have a celling mount? (If not you might want to get in touch with Curt, I believe he may still has one or two in stock!)
Oh and when you are raising this "beast" into place...
Word of advice:
"Invest 45 bucks and get one of those "inflatable" king size beds (...that you see for sale...for your overnight "guests", on the home shopping network!) to put under the PJ while you are raising it. (...for insurance of course! :) )
A G90 is an awesome "device" and I am sure that you are going to enjoy it tremendously! (...take the time and the money to set it up right! and you will not be disappointed!)
Good luck

Martin-
Thanks for getting back to me. I was thinking about trying to attach unistrut across the bottom of the g90, but I would only be able to use 4 of the 5 bolts. Would just the 4 bolts hold?
Or should I scrap the plan and get the stock mount or similar?
And, FWIW, I'm coming from a marquee 8500, and the g90 I got has a worn green tube, but red/blue are in pretty good shape. Even with the worn green, this thing blows away any other pj I've had. And that's just with a quick 1/2 hour set up, I still haven't really tuned in the focus or anything.

Personally I would go with the "stock" mount! (Since they have already figured out all the contingencies when it comes to weight and such stuff!)
I know that they go for around 150/300 bucks or so...just find someone on Videogon/crt forum that has one for sale. (I am sure that you would have no issues with it!)
Good luck

seconded....get the factory mount....I've have had a G70 mounted to the ceiling with a universal Sony mount that would also bolt up to a '90.

Not knocking the stock mount, but just putting it out there that the unistrut mounts are basicly infinatly adjustable and can accomodate any projector or ceiling type. Oh and it is cheap too, mine cost about $40 to build. But the choice is yours.
I have my 1251q mounted with the three  stock locations and it is solid as a rock with the unistrut. When we first mounted it I hung off of the projector (I'm 220lbs) and it didn't even budge.

while not claiming to be in the league as the guys answering here,
I can tell you that 4 quality 8mm bolts are plenty capable of safely
suspending 250lbs in a static application, but not Chinese swing-set
bolts, at least grade 5 hardened bolts

If you really look at it, each bolt is only taking 65 lbs. abouts.....
So it's not a problem to only hook up to only 4 points.
Thanks everyone for your help. Now I just need to find a g90 mount or if I can't, build one myself.
