Hey everybody,

I just got a Plasma and Downloaded the Plasma Break In "game" (community game), does anyone have any experience with this??

Im wondering how long im supposed to run the game for, how long it takes to break in, etc ...

It seems pretty cool but it doesnt tell you much about it ..

Any info from someone who tried it or knows about Break In Tests, is appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Ghost

Personally I feel these are all rip-offs and you can simply break in your plasma using normal viewing (just take it off the typical factory "torch" mode settings and not be an idiot and leave an image paused on the screen for 24 hours). That is, assuming you even believe you need a break-in period...that subject is up for debate as well. I didn't do any kindof break-in period and never had an issue.

I had an issue with my 9uk with some retention and it went away after awhile. Just be smart and don't play Madden for 20 hours on your brand new plasma...

Yeah that seems to be what everybody is saying ..

My GT is PimpLancerGTS if anyone ever wants to play..

I play everything basicly, mostly sports and FPS ...

your plasma is not going to burn in, all newer plasmas have image shift (or equavalent) don't worry about it and game on!

Me too.

As for the topic, I bought a plasma two years ago (Samsung HPT 5064) and just let normal viewing and gaming do the trick, never had a problem with burn in, just some slight image retention in the beginning - lowering the contrast a bit helped that, and now I never see it at all.

I would try and play games without a HUD for awhile. My favorite right now is Ghostbusters. By default some of the HUD is there so you will want to turn those off in the options.

IIRC, Gears Of War didn't have much of a HUD. Crackdown lets you turn the HUD opacity way down. Prototype leaves some pretty nasty image retention from the health bar even on my Pioneer plasma which is 5 years old now (can't believe it is that old, still looks great). I would stay away from games that have a lot of red as part of the HUD (EA Sports Madden, Prototype, etc. for some time).

Assassin's Creed can also have no HUD at all.
