class 6 = minimum 6MB/s write and read speed.
class 4 = minimum 4MB/s write and read speed.
You should buy a card as fast as you can afford. Even if the camera may not take advantage of extra speed, it really helps when you download large video files to your PC.
If you want reliability or reputations, SanDisk SDHC cards are your best bet. There are plenty deal out there for these cards.
If you are near a MicroCenter they have a "house brand" 16GB SDHC class 6 for $29.99. I am currently using one of these and so far it seems to be working fine. I also bought an Adata 16gb card from Meritline (also another good source) that so far is working fine.
You can also check the Chinese "no-name" brands on Ebay but from personal experience the quality is a bit spotty.

Although Class 6 is at least 6mbs, Sandisk has a Class 4 card that also says it is 20mbs. Sandisk also sells the Extreme III that is class 6 and 30mbs. Other brands such as OCZ say their gold card is capable of 150x, whatever that equates to in terms of mbs.
In any event, I would try to get the fastest card possible so that it will be able to keep up with the camcorder as it sends data to be saved while you are recording. A slower card may end up with missing parts or corrupted files if the camera sends faster than the card can save.
Also, faster cards transfer files to the computer faster and format faster.
On the other hand, faster cards cost more than slower cards. You pays your money and you takes your chances.
Best wishes with your new camcorder.
