well..i guess that's it. i'll go with the vixia HG20, seems to have everything i want in my price range, i would have gone for the biger ones with SD cards, but a bit out of my range considering the price of cards.

Hopefully i wont regret it..:)

I bought 2 from two different stores (Costco and Amazon) and both of them had issues. One had a dead USB port and the other had a ton of dead pixels on the LCD screen. I wish you better luck than I had!

i checked every store withing a 150km radius of my home..and NO ONE available, so seems i'll go with the Vixia HF S100 instead.

Al3d, for what it's worth, I had an HG20 - very nice camcorder, but it had a fault in it (line of dead pixels only appeared in photos, not in video for some reason). I sent the cam back, but the vendor would only refund, not replace, and in the meantime prices jumped significantly. I had paid $599 for the HG20. The HF200 was available for $599, so I decided on that despite the camcorderinfo.com review that especially mentioned poor low light performance for the HF200.

I really do like the HF200. It is a smaller form factor than the HG20, takes very nice outdoor video, and indoor video is not bad. It is helpful indoors not to use the automatic settings but rather shutter priority. This helps to minimize grainy video in low light. Even the HG20 had grain in low light indoor shots - maybe a small bit better than the HF200 but still there.

In the other thread (SDHC cards) you mentioned you live in Quebec. Don't know if they'll ship there, but Crutchfield has the HF200 for $599 with free shipping. They have a good return policy also.

Best wishes - hope I didn't confuse you further! Wanted to provide you my experience in the hope it'll be helpful. I'm trying to put together a more detailed post regarding the HF200 vs. HG20. I think the HF200 gets a bad rap, and it shouldn't.
