I have an Onkyo TX-sr503 receiver (1 digital audio input), along with PS3 and a cable box.

Current setup:
- No video connections to receiver, only audio
Video 1: PS3 connected via digital optical on receiver
Video 3: cable box connected to receiver non-digital

Wish
- split optical connection on receiver to both ps3 and cable box (assume use splitter from monoprice

My question is that I have the receiver configured to use Video 1 for its single digital audio input. So if I now have the cable box sharing that connection, it would now be Video 1 for both connections. When I play PS3 or watch dvd, I just switch between Video 1 and 3, but my cable box is still on. So what will happen with this new setup as technically audio signal is coming from both ps3 and cable box at same time (tv controlled outside of receiver).

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Onkyo TX-sr503
Digital Inputs 3 Optical, 1 Coaxial

Why do you need to share? You have plenty of digital audio inputs.

Ratman,
You are so right. This is what I get for looking at the setup at 6am this morning on my way out of the house. Right, it was the one digital coax I saw. So you are right, no sharing needed. Disregard my message!! :)
