I guess Asurion is what toys r us uses for ps3's that need service/repairs. Just wondering how good they fix ps3's. I'm guessing the same as if Sony would fix it - make it like a refurb basically.

I bought the unit at Walmart during their Father's day special last year and my warranty covers it through 2011 (So at least I'll get to play it for a year afterwards before the world ends ;-) They already sent me instructions for sending it so now we'll see just good they are... Victor Ravenous112 11-16-09, 01:55 AM If its anything like the cellphones they replace, expect to get a "slightly used" or refurbed ps3 victor-eyd 12-12-09, 12:02 PM Well, last night I got my ps3 back from asurion- had my info still on the hard drive. Nice packaging so all looked good. I downloaded 3.15 and then my son proceeded to play R&C:ToD for a couple of hours. This morning he wanted to play again... Dead- blinking RLOD Sigh. At least asurion has a 90 day warranty (I wonder how often that is used) so back in the box it goes and shipped back to Smyrna, TN for another attempt to fix this POS. Stay tuned... Victor Sounds like they just did a reflow on it.. If they dont replace it with a Refurb unit, then expect the same thing to happen again. My Orig 60 gig failed and I sent it in for repair and they did a reflow on it 2 times...It just failed again this morning. 3 times since Sept. Gonna get me a slim now. and fix my 60 gig one of these days. victor-eyd 12-12-09, 04:06 PM Thanks for the info- how many times can I keep sending to asurion until they send me a refurb? Anyone ever got a refurb? Victor victor-eyd 01-08-10, 11:00 PM Well, I'm officially pissed at Asurion. The repair didn't even last 5 seconds once I unboxed it and the I got the flashing red light once I plugged it in. This will now be the 3rd time it goes back to Asurion! To all those who are considering the warranty service with Walmart for their PS3- DON'T!! Victor ndskyz 01-10-10, 09:38 AM Well, I'm officially pissed at Asurion. As much as I hate to say it, but it seems they are the only one who really know how to FIX (not patch) the original PS3's victor-eyd 01-10-10, 01:27 PM Well, we'll see on the next try(s). I'm a patient guy (so far) and my kids have the other platforms to use so if this keeps going I might just get another unit from Asurion if they can't fix this issue. Victor victor-eyd 02-02-10, 06:32 PM Well, apparently 3rd times the charm, as the old saying goes. goodbye PS3 hello walmart check to buy NEW PS3! woohoo! Victor |
