I currently have a Popcorn Hour A110 upstairs and am looking for a player/streamer for my home theater.
The main function will be to play Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, and DVD rips from my unRAID server. (using AnyDVD-HD)
Most of my files are in folder structure, but some are .iso.

I've heard the new Popcorn Hour C-200 might have this functionality?

SageTV's STP-HD200 HD Theater supposedly can play BD ISOs or forlder structures, even "unencrypted" BDs from a shared Blu-ray optical drive in a PC.

What's my best bet?

The Sage extender does not support menus (if that matters to you.) More importantly, it does not fully support the High def audio (TrueHD, DTS-HD MA.) It will pass on (through the HDMI connection) the “core” DD or DTS track found in those High Def tracks, but it does not currently pass on the full res audio track.

Don’t know much about the popcorns so I can’t comment on those.

For the spec, it lists BD.iso. What hasn't been answered however, is whether that is only for when using discs (it accepts a BD drive), or for backups on an HDD/network.

It does not support HD DVD however.

Also, the HD200 does not have DTS Downmix so you will get zero audio out of it if you connect the HD200 directly to a device that cannot decode (such as directly to your tv) when only HD audio tracks are available (TrueHD, LPCM, DTS-MA). I have an HD200 connected directly to a tv and I now have to go add an AC3 audio track to my DTS Blu Ray mkvs just to get sound.

I'm always on the lookout for new toys, but my TViX M6500-A does all this now. I use firmware .111, which correctly recognizes 24 fps. (HD DVDs are remuxed to BD.) Of course, it has been around for a while.

I should mention that if menus are not a concern for you, you can in fact use llink with your Popcorn Hour to watch your HD movies.

Bumping this thread to see what the latest recommendation would be given that there are a number of new devices available.

Here's what I need:

- Ability to playback Blu-Ray ISOs
- Output all Blu-Ray audio and video formats via HDMI
- Full Menu and BD-Live Support
- Chapter Support
- Responsive Fast Forward and Rewind (local, not network)
- Support for internal 3.5" drive
