I have seen several stretched commercials during the Today show. It started today. Will this be the norm??? :rolleyes:

Watching NBC News in the UK, and ABC News, I've noticed some 4:3 stuff isn't being correctly aspect ratio converted to 16:9, and similarly some 16:9 stuff is being incorrectly aspect ratio converted, as if it is 4:3...

(BBC News went through the same pains in the early years of 16:9 production over here. BBC News 24 was 16:9 in 1997, and the main BBC News operation went 16:9 in 2000)

I can't believe they are doing stretchovision on a national broadcast network now. Especially since the standard definition viewers are watching the same feed, with the sides cropped off. That has to look really bad when a 4:3 picture is stretched and the sides are cropped off.
