I apologizing for creating a thread that has been created a dozen times before. I did read the FAQ and my goal is to follow KISS, Keep it Simple Stupid, so I'm trying to use only HDMI. I'm having issues setting up my home entertainment system. I just purchased a Yamaha RX-V465 in the hopes of using that to connect my Directv tuner, my upscaling DVD and my computer to my TV. Currently, I have a Sony CRT Tube HD TV with HDMI input and 720P/1080I resolution. I also have a Directv HD HR20 tuner, an upscaling DVD, random Sony and a computer, a Macbook, all with HDMI outputs.

I can run my Directv tuner and my computer directly on the TV using HDMI. When I attach them by HDMI to the RX-V465 and then connect the receiver by HDMI to the TV, I don't get any signal/picture. I do get signal/picture when I attach my DVD player, with HDMI, to my receiver and then connect the receiver to the TV. Also, when I connect my computer to the receiver, the receiver's "HDMI" light is on, and the computer detects the receiver, but I don't get any signal/picture on my TV. When I connect my Directv tuner to the receiver, I don’t get the “HDMI” light indicating any connection.

Do you have any suggestions or help that will allow me to connect the RX-V465 receiver to my home entertainment system?

it could be a "menu" thing...
on your V465, have you set the menu to select HDMI for all the inputs. the default of some of the input selections may be component. Also you may need to also set the audio input source for each selected input to HDMI, instead of Toslink optical or digital coax, again possibly a menu default issue.

Does the DirectTV tuner feed video/audio to the TV when hooked up directly ? If it does, then the DirectTV setup menu is OK. If it doesn't the box setup menu should be set to feed both audio and video out the HDMI port.
