I recently bought a house and built out a room for my HT. I have a 50''Panny in the middle and the shelves on either side are each 6'' deep. My couch is about 7-8 feet from the TV.

As you can see there is no back to the room really. Also looking at the TV the rear right side of the room has a 7 foot opening for an entrance down into the room, making placement of rear speakers tough I think.

1.) Where would you suggest front speakers? I was looking at C-50's (8'' deep) or Energy Take Classic 5.0 (4'' deep). Either in shelf or mounted on either side of outside of TV

2.) Where would you place the rear speakers? On the shelf pictured in the back? On stands? Mounting may prove to be tough b/c of opening on right rear of room.

Thank You

Looking at those pictures I'd suggest for the fronts getting something that won't be effected by being in the shelves, and putting them on there, or mounting them on the divider between the middle shelves. For the rears I'd probably just use the shelf, but ideally I think it would be better to mount them on stands on either side of the rear of the couch.

I would like the C-50 option, but like I said before on the shelf is going to be too tight.

Would it be too close for the fronts to be flush mounted flanking the AV equipment? With it being a 50'' TV I think they would be about 55'' or so.

Ideally I'd think you'd want them a little further apart than 4½', Energy suggest a minimum of 6' apart, but you have to work with what you've got right?

Yeah or I could just go with Take Classic and have them sit on the Shelf since they are not near as deep.

Where would an optimal place be for the sub? Thinking about the Energy S8.3. I would have room in that cabinet below the TV, but not sure if thats a good placement.

There is an open corner behind the sectional couch that is empty, would that suffice?

Only problem with placing the Takes Classics in a cubby hole is that I believe they are rear ported, so that may cause some issues with the sound, maybe not, someone that knows a little more about that could expand on it. As far as the sub, I'd try a few different spots until it sounds best from your listening position.

I found that simply putting bookshelf sized speakers with rear ports near the wall really boosted the bass. Frankly, it sounded very nice, but it was way out of whack. You also may have a greater chance of causing iting rattles in your shelving system. But it depends a lot on the speakers themselves.

Where would you suggest the center speaker placement? Below my TV would be at about 40'' or so above the ground, while on top would be a good 6 feet.

Thanks
