Ive tired

Ulead Video Studio X2 Pro
cyberlink power producer
pinnacle studio 12 ultimate

all with the lastest updates but none will out put at the Canons HF 20s original 24Mbps?

What will? I like the programs listed above they will edit AVCHD but not output it at the rate i want even when you try to customize a profile it will not got that high.

Are you try to output AVCHD on DVD disc? If so, the max bitrate is 18mbps per AVCHD standard and a limitation of DVD media. 24mbps will have to use BD-R, not DVD.

What will?

You can use a mp4 coding which will give you a 24Mbps bitrate..... but AVC.... nothing as of yet. I think the highest is 17 or 18

No im trying to ouput it to file to burn to a blu-ray later on once i have anough video to fill the disc. Why is software always seem to be behind? Whats the pont of using 24Mbps if you can't acutally use it?

What could i convert the AVC 24mbps to without ANY quality loss? so i can edit it and acutally output it at 24Mbps.

Anytime you convert/re-encode you WILL lose a bit of quality.

If you do straight cuts (no transitions, titling...etc) then you SHOULD be able to use the "smart render" systems built into programs like Nero, Ulead, Vegas Pro.... to "pass through" your original clips (and bit rate) onto Blu Ray.

Your final output will depend on where you're going with it. You mentioned Blu Ray so probably the next best thing to a "smart render" would be Mpeg2 at around 25 or 30Mbps. You will only get around 2 hours on a disk though.

I doubt you will see any encoders capable of doing full renders at 24Mbps anytime soon. The encoders still aren't even really up to par at 16Mbps yet. It looked for a while there that Encore (the burner program for Adobe CS4) could do it but apparently CS4 is quite the mess (a lot of bugs and such)...also not the cheapest program set in the world.

I Don't think you will see anything higher coming out of Sony either. Sony is treating avchd as strictly a consumer level format with their use of Main profile avchd in their cams, which has a max bitrate of 17 (or so) Mbps, and have shown little interest in taking it any further.

Why output it a higher rate then the orginal was? I agree it looks like Mpeg2 is the best to use.

Thanks

Don't make the mistake of comparing compression rates of avchd with that of mpeg2..... apples and oranges. Mpeg2 is not quite as efficient and therefore needs a higher bitrate.

No software will output 24mbs AVC???

I read somewhere that Arcsoft Total Media Extreme and Nero are the only programs that output 24 mbs AVCHD. Tried looking for the link for you but couldn't find it, sorry. I usually have a good memory with this kind of stuff but you'll need to double-check me.

Don't know about arcsoft (kind of doubt it) but Nero can't do full renders at 24M... it can only "smart render" at 24M.

I have found that Edius 5.10 will but it has a high learning curve, i have yet to figure out how to do a multi trim with it. lol

This software is great but i have yet to figure it out.

I'll download a trial of Arcsoft Total Media Extreme and try it out

Arcsoft TME is not a full editor, all you can do is create a AVCHD disk with VERY simple cuts (and not very smooth,BTW) but YES, it does output 24 mbs if the original file is already 24 mbs. It does not change the original bitrate and there is no option to do so.
I use TME to create AVCHD disks from programs captured with the Hauppauge 1212 PVR and it works fine but I need Vegas 8 Pro to do any serious editing.
