I need a program that will trim the individual mts files without having to re-render them into something else. I have some long mts file clips and want to chop them up to smaller clips but. I also have some clips that have some wasted footage at points that I don't wont to keep so I want to basically trim the fat off of my mts files on my computer before I import them into my editing video editing program. Does anyone know of a good quick program that will do this? The Pixela software that came with my camera does not work with my computer so don't I need something different.

thanks,
MD

What AVCHD camcorder do you shoot with? Some of the memory-based units, like my Panny SD9, have a function called Divide & Delete. That is a great way to trim the fat. According to the operating manual, the function is frame-accurate, and I haven't seen anything to contradict that statement.

I have no experience with hard-drive camcorders, to know if they incorporate this function.

I have a Canon HF S100 and yes it does have a "split" function where you can do what you just described but I would like to have a program that would do this on my computer.

you are fortunate to have that tool built in to your camera
