Just got a 4250hdc TWC and I am having this crazy blue screen at least once a day. On my 16-9 TV it fills about 4-3 of the screen. Pressing any key brings the picture back. Not good for recording to HD-PVR as blue screen is there. Had a rep replace he unit and still have the problem.

Went to there depot to complain and this is what they told me.

1. Don't leave it on one station ???
2. It is our "switch digital" signal we send out to the boxes. "HUH"
3. Someone with knowledge of this will call you. - been 48 hours and no call -

Does anyone have an idea what this is, or can it be corrected somehow?

Thanks

Sounds like they're using switched digital on the system you're attached to. Unfortunately, that's one of the "features" of switched digital - if the attached device which requested the channel sits idle for too long, the channel can be automatically revoked for reuse for other customers. Not knowing anything about their exact head-end setup, my guess is this isn't something which can be "fixed", as it's an inherent function of the SDV system they're using. Maybe they can up the timeout, but you'll eventually end up in the same boat again; the only resolution would be to somehow simulate a keypress on the remote periodically so the box knows to send a signal upstream saying "yes, someone is still here and watching, please keep sending this channel!"

Thanks,

That does make sense, you explaining it was a lot clearer than the CSR tried to explain to me.

Last night, I also could not get some of the HD stations as I was scanning through them - (blue screen "Initializing please wait") as Admiral in another thread was experiancing. I'm in the WNY area also.
Found a bad coax.

The bad part of this, I am only concern about 2 stations on HD (USAHD & TNTHD) and the unit is left on either one.
