Anybody pick this up yet? I was thinking of grabbing a copy or rent it. Thoughts? I kind of enjoyed the first one but it was a long time ago that I played.

I kind of enjoyed the first one but it was a long time ago that I played. I actually just picked it up today. Haven't opened it yet. Reviews were very good, and I love westerns and shooting so this looks great. Will probably try it tonight or this weekend for sure. Pretty good video review from here. http://www.gametrailers.com/gamereview.php?id=10693 WilliamR 07-02-09, 10:14 PM I have it and played the heck out of it today. Graphics are really good. Reminds of the Call of Duty before World at War. Voice acting is horrible, just seems so lame and inappropriate at times. Each character has unique abilities. The Reverand can do a pretty cool time slow down (concentration mode) that is pretty wicked to pull off. Gun are excellent but reloading is VERY slow. Also there are times when you have to pick things up (like a bucket of water) and it just feels really lame and pointless. Overall a solid B game, probably not worth full price, more like $40 - $50. DaGamePimp 07-03-09, 04:18 AM Almost done with it, solid game, better than the first game in almost every way (which I did not care for). Curious if William is playing the same game I am playing since the Reverend (youngest brother) does not appear to be playable (the only 2 characters that I have been able to select have been Thomas and Ray so far and I am almost done with the game) plus I find the voice acting to be better than many other games. The graphics are impressive most of the time and the DD 5.1 audio is respectable. Gameplay delivers most of the time and other than some long horse rides the action is pretty much non-stop. Gun duels can get frustrating since it seems there is no real consistency from one duel to the next, sometimes the foe is just way too quick (and it can take multiple attempts). I would give it somewhere around a 7.5 ;). Jason dobieck1 07-03-09, 11:42 AM The SP is pretty sweet. They really change it up on you. Lots of actiona and Concentration mode is sweet. Tried som online, was pretty cool too. Nice change of pace with no Automatic Rifles. I like how the bounty system works. The more you kill, the higher your value. Their lines are horrible at times, seem just like an attempt at humor. I really like the graphics in this game, way better then I thought it would be. Since when you start a new chapter you can only play as one or the other and the other is not even selectable, I wonder if that changes after you beat the game and it will let you play as the other during a particular level. DaGamePimp 07-03-09, 03:54 PM Ah, gotcha ;). Yeah I would agree that some of the lines are poorly written and/or seem out of place. As I understand it the game is set the way it starts out and those levels that only allow one character will remain that way even after beating the game. I guess the way to go would be to play through as one character the entire game and then play through again with the other character (other than those levels where there is no option obviously). Jason 3:33 07-04-09, 03:35 PM I'm really looking forward to playing this, but seeing as how I will be renting it from Gamefly, I can probably expect to get it around the year 2013. Gamefly is getting ridiculous. JuiceRocket 07-05-09, 08:34 PM Almost done with it, solid game, better than the first game in almost every way (which I did not care for). I've been wondering if I should pick it up or not, as I enjoyed the first one but haven't finished it (I got stuck on a duel and wound up getting distracted by other games). Sounds like it's time for me to put the first in, finish it, and then pick up BiB! -JR confidenceman 07-06-09, 12:44 AM Never played the first game. I'm only a couple hours into this one, but really enjoying it so far. Sure, the voice acting is pretty goofy and the character animations are really stiff, but the environments, core shooting mechanics, and basic storyline are all great! Cygnus311 07-06-09, 07:59 AM About how long is the single player? dobieck1 07-06-09, 09:26 AM About how long is the single player? Supposedly 7-8 hours. DaGamePimp 07-06-09, 03:50 PM I just beat it last night in a little over 6 hours on medium difficulty. Jason N8DOGG 07-07-09, 12:46 AM Not a bad game, i'm with the 7.5 rating. Some good action and great graphics but the voice acting was pretty bad lol JuiceRocket 07-07-09, 11:59 AM I just beat it last night in a little over 6 hours on medium difficulty. Jason Did you try MP at all? I'm wondering how it stacks up. -JR |
