View Full Version : AT&T DSL and Viera Cast?
jameskelsey 07-03-09, 10:10 PM OK can't get a Panasonic TCP50G10 to connect to the router. Tried Automatic settings and manually. Called AT&T and they would not help. I'm usually pretty good at this stuff but I'm not having any luck. Anybody have this problem or know if Panasonic will help?
Tried searching here but no luck.
It's a 2Wire 1000HG DSL router
Have you try to power cycle the router?
jameskelsey 07-03-09, 10:36 PM Yep, no luck
You running gateway --> ethernet cable --> router --> ethernet cable --> tv?
Or is this wireless from gateway to router and then ethernet cable to tv?
jameskelsey 07-03-09, 10:45 PM It's a 2Wire 1000HG wireless modem router. (one unit ) and it's connected to the TV with a ethernet cable.
Is this 2Wire 1000HG wireless modem router being used for the first time or has anything else work with this router?
jameskelsey 07-03-09, 11:01 PM Everything else has and is working fine for a long time. Just added another wireless computer the other day. It has a laptop and desktop connected wireless. The desktop used to be on the wired connection, their is only one wired outlet. Moved the desktop to wireless so I could hook up TV.
I would think if other equipments work fine it should work with the tv. I don't know if this will help but have you try power cycle the tv?
Also I would try connecting ethernet cable directly to gateway to see if the tv Lan port works.
jameskelsey 07-03-09, 11:17 PM Yep, power cycled the TV and router.
Have you check the network settings (see page 44 in the Operating Instruction Manual).
jameskelsey 07-03-09, 11:45 PM Which manual, TV or router?
OK the TV, yes I tried Manually setting it too. Maybe I didn't put right info. Auto settings didn't work

Have to call it a night. Been up for 19 hours and I'm whooped. I'll try tomorrow when I'm clear headed.
If you can think of anything I might have missed I'll check here in morning. Thanks for trying to help.
My TC-P50S1 doesnt have Viera Cast but I bought a Panny BD60 Blu Ray player which has the Viera Cast.
I tried to hook it up using my Apple Airport Extreme with a wireless extender.
Then a Cat5 cable from the extender to the BluRay. This setup works well with my Directv On Demand.
I hooked it up to the BluRay and went through the IP address setup and I used the same IP address that I used with the Directv setup. Obviously when I connect to the VieraCast the Directv is disconnected.
Anyway, If I used the auto IP address it wouldnt connect. When I plugged in the IP addresses of my equipment manually it connected. But it loses the connection and then wont reconnect. I'll try it later and it connects, so I know the settings are correct.
It seems to be hit or miss, and I think this is due to the wireless setup. Maybe the signal isn't as strong at times.
However, the Directv setup works all the time with the same router and extender and same IP addresses.

I switched to a shorter cat 5 cable this am and now it connects every time.
Go figure.
You Tube is just ok, and Picasa isn't much.
When are they going to add some real usable content?
When is Netflix or Amazon Video on Demand coming?

I have 2 devices that I want to hook up to the internet. My VieraCast BD60 BluRay and my Directv On Demand.
My Apple wireless extender only has one port. I have to switch the Cat 5 cables as needed.
Is there an adaptor to be able to hook up both Cat 5 cables at once?
It would have to be a male connector to hook up to the Apple Extender, and the other end would be 2 females to plug in the 2 cables.
Thanks for the help.

HI
Either a hub or a switch will work for you, a switch is best and quite inexpensive. hook cat 5 from airport > modem port of switch then run cat 5 from tv and bd player to the wired lan ports of the switch.

If you read the decscription of that item it only allows one device or the other to be used at any given time. If you plan to use both at the same time you will need a hub or a switch , they determine which device requested what and route it to that device.

My G10 has Amazon video rentals. You may need to update the TV's firmware to get it, which is somewhere in the menu.

Lend27 has the TC-P50S1, not G10.

I understand but Lend27 ask: Is there an adaptor to be able to hook up both Cat 5 cables at once?
I ordered a switch from Amazon. Didn't realize how inexpensive they were.
That is the best solution to this problem.
Thanks
