Watching a little bit of CNN, and in the rotating video clips shown in the background, MJ is shown looking through a camera with the large RED logo on the side.

You know what this means. Sometime in the near future, there will be one last MJ tribute for sale, offered in 'Red Ray', and this will certainly boost interest and sales of Red Players.

In death, MJ will single-handedly launch the Red Ray Revolution to consumers.

The reason I believe this, is because MJ's Thriller video sparked a generation of stereo buffs to invest into Home Theater. I was a subscriber to Stereo Review magazine when they promoted the HT concept on their cover. It portrayed Everyman's house with a large outside billboard advertising two blockbusters-Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Thriller. It took me 25 years to realize that magazine cover, but it was the spark that slowly grew until the technology became affordable (to me).

I think the last rehearsal of MJ on RED will do the same thing for that format, kicking it into the public interest.

Do we really know what RED Ray is yet? All I ever saw was "uses standard DVD discs, with an efficient (highly compressed) codec to support 4K....specs subject to change."
I never got the impression it was supposed to become a consumer format to replace Blu-ray.
QFHD (Quad Full High Definition) is the consumer version of 4K (narrowed to 16:9) 2160x3840, it looks very sharp on a 50'' flat panel display. I think it's going to be a while before we get that stuff in homes though.

They have a picture of it on their web site.

This is MJ we're talking about. It will be the highest resolution archive of him as an entertainer that will ever be available. So, yes, consumers will demand it. It'll be like the Transformers II movie. Everyone wanted it, everyone expected it. The difference is, this one won't suck.

Oh dude, I am just glad they recorded it... if they got it in 4K, then I am even more excited, don't get me wrong. I am sure they will milk it for all the money they can get out of it, so I have no doubt we will get to enjoy it.
