Can you comment on the director's cut? Is it the same as the criterion LD ( Haven't seen that version but have read up on it here: http://movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=645&In=Quer) or is it longer?

Also is there any talk in the documentary about the prison riot scene that was said to have been filmed, just curious.

I am so excited about this release as I have been waiting since 1999 for a SE of this movie.

haven't had a chance to watch the whole film yet so can't comment on the changes but i have watched the gangsta vision: making menace II society featurette and they dont't mention the riot scene but there is also a hughes brother interview on the blu ray which was also on the dvd version and i think they mention it on this.

not that i can see mate but there does seem to be a bit of DNR as on some scene faces look a bit waxy :(

there are a 3 scenes that are extended in the directors cut that i can remember, 2 are just quick shots of bullet wounds and 1 is when they are going to get petrol near the beggining of the film when harold gets shot, a-wax walks up to pay for the petrol and calls the fella workin there a "fool" or somethin like that, the scene normally finished with him saying "pump my ****" but now it carrys on to show him paying for the pertol.

I am thrilled with the pq of both Friday and Menace. I expected the worst but am very pleased to add these two very enjoyable films to my collection.:)

I love the fact that these aren't just some thrill-seeking girls but women motivated by their life circumstances into extreme action.

Jada, Latifah and Kimberly Elise all played their roles well along with great supporting cast like John C. Mcginley. I bought the character's motivations and connected to all 4 of the main characters throughout their stories.

I found the video to be a mixed bag. Daylight scenes and exteriors came off very sharp and detailed. Interior scenes seemed less detailed and less sharp and colors a bit hot. Though I have to admit i've never seen the film theatrically so it might have been filmed that way.

Sure can't complain about the audio. 7.1 Truehd and lots of ambience and surround presence during the action segment. No, it doesn't have the extension of a modern day soundtrack nor the clarity, it is however the best this film has ever sounded.

I just watched Set It Off on a 45x108 scope screen from 10ft and found the picture quality to be outstanding. All 3 of these films look way better than I expected.:D
