found this website. after creating a log-in, you can log in, select any video game they have (alot of retail games right now), and listen to most if not all the songs in that game.

www.playnit.com (http://www.playnit.com)

as a test i picked jet set radio from the dreamcast:

very cool. after listening for awhile (dont know how long exactly) you can upload any soundtracks you may have.

awesome looking site, I went straight to Jet Set Radio as well. I wish they would either doa new Jet Set Radio for 360 or release a Arcade verison of the DC one.

It was really a classic game.

Haven't checked out any other game music yet, I think Shenmue will be the next game I "playnit"

Having now checked out the Shenmue music, or one song, anyways it sounds amazing. Any idea what encodes these guys are using and where they got it?

i've played around with it for a few days (2, i think) and now can upload songs into EXISTING games in their catalog. must play more songs available in order to unlock ability to upload entirely new game soundtracks.

not sure on the uploading samples, but as you can tell that jet set radio soundtrack was kinda rough. but if i were to have that soundtrack i could upload a newer higher quality version. also the sites forum mod "programer" answers all the question very quickly. you can prob ask him directly about the quality of uploading and all that.

quickest way to pick up point is just play songs. also maybe update your profile.

I thought the sound quality for Jet Set Radio and Shenmue were great but then again I was playing on TV speakers back then and now I'm on a surround and I had my reciver set to ehance mp3's/lower bitrate media.....

JSR's quality (on a 2 channel setup) sounds just a bit confined. doesnt sound like 128k, but something just below it. like 96k. the bionic commando songs i've put up are all at 128k and sounds loads better than JSR's. still JSR's soundtrack is there to enjoy.

Am I to understand the content is user uploaded?

yes. weird thing is you have acquire points in order to do things. off the bat you can post in the forums and listen to music.
to upload music/create new game entry you need 500 points. listening to 1 song is 5pts each (points given as soon you select a song to play, not at the end of the song). posting in the forums is another couple points (not sure how much). adding more information about yourself in the control panel are a major source of points as well (dont know the exact breakdown)
in about a day or 2 you can acquire enough to post. i've run into 1 very horrible user uploaded song (guitar hero metallica), but overall these are uploaded from a users personnal cd collection.

also i've talking with the admin (a couple of them actually). the site's only been up for a week. so there are some bugs. a couple of irritating ones, but they'll all be ironed out as soon as the admins are notified.
