I just bought a LG combo drive that reads Blu Ray and HD-DVD drives, I am having a heck of a time finding a program to allow me to take screen caps from the discs. Am I missing something here? Is this just not possible? I can take screenshots from regular DVD's using Media Player, but I just can't figure it out with the HD formats.

I bought this drive specifically for this purpose. And so far it looks like I may have wasted $200! Help!

Can't you do a Ctrl-Alt-PrintScreen and save it to the Windows clipboard...? Paste it into Paint or something?

Nope. I can't even do a print screen if the program is minimized! It's like it blocks Windows from taking a screenshot period while a Blu Ray is playing.

Third party sw players use overlay and also block the print feature due to security. TMT player earlier version let you take snappy's, but your best bet is always MPC-HC.;)

Awesome, thanks! I'm at work right now, but I will definately have to check this out when I get home. This problem has been a thorn in my side for about a week now and I've just been running into brick walls with it!

So, it will play Blu Ray discs without problems? Also, do you know if it will play HD-DVD's too? I've tried multiple players, but finding one that plays both formats and allows screen caps is harder than I thought.

Thanks again!

You will find all of your answers at the HTPC forums, and yes you can play both formats here is a link to get you started. Be prepared to spend some money for third party ripper.

Cool, I'll check that forum out. I thought MPC was free though? I'm not looking to rip the movies, just something to take one screengrab to put up on my new site.

Well, I'm closer. I can take a screenshot from Blu Ray, but not HD-DVD. Ug...well, I'm half way there at least!

Thanks for the suggestions, but neither work.

Screengrab doesn't work. And Winx doesn't play HD-DVD's.

Any more suggestions out there? This is tougher that I expected.
