Not sure which connection to use, I have 2 HDMI ports used up one for the PC, the other for Digital sat.

But I have a Free Component input so that way I could keep my PC and Digital sat receiver on HDMI.

Should I use RGB Component for my 360 at 720p or HDMI.

I know that like 90% of 360 games are not even 1080p native a few more are 720p native but most are Scaled up

You can try and compare HDMI and component, but most of the time they will look virtually identical. The biggest reason that people see a difference between the two is due to different calibration settings for the various inputs.

Is the 360 your primary DVD player?

no my primary DVD player is my DELL 1737 laptop with Bluray drive which is connected to HDMI at 720p
(the laptop has a 1920x1200 RGB LED Display itself which is fantastic but thats beside the matter)

thats primary for movies thats the PC

then I have Digital Satelite coming in at 720p via HDMI

so I don't want to sacrifice those two

no hdmi switchers please, trying to avoid buying extra stuff already own the RGB Component cables the 360 brings.

I could swap the Sat reciever to RGB Component but I would rather preserve the HDMI quality for Sat TV receiver because I use that 80% of the time and rarely game on the 360 a few hours a week, not daily but I use TV daily.

especially now the Direct TV gave me 2 HD receivers free and upgraded me to the Premium package for free and only pay $20 a month. Just call and threaten to cancel.

anyways back on topic

the Up scalling or up converting and converting for 360 games will be the same or better with HDMI?

or will the refresh rate or response time be better for gaming using HDMI?

because I have read that using HDMI can slow down the response time adding a delay because the TV is doing all kinds of scalling or picture correction.

or vs analog Component where the TV doe not have to worry about HDCP handshake and polling to make sure its has HDCP.

really gonna have to upgrade to a Samsung LED or Plasma soon, too bad Mitsubishi's LASERVUE is so delayed.

- Same and same.

- The Xbox360 doesn't require HDCP for gaming. It only requires it for upscaling DVD's.

- Input lag (video delay) is caused by scaling/de-interlacing. If you are sending the native resolution to your TV, the input lag should be at a minimum. So if you have a 720p set, don't set your Xbox360 to 1080p.

Does your TV have a VGA input? If so that may be your answer, you can avoid the overscan you get with component and HDMI, plus run 1360*768 which is much closer to your sets native resolution than 720p.

What model TV do you have??

I got it for $500 at Brandsmart because one of the HDMi inputs was bad.

Definitely use VGA for that set, its has a native resolution of 1024*768, which is fully supported by the 360 when using VGA. That would give the best results IMO.
