I've tweaked the inputs on my Samsung HP-S4253 display using video essentials, with those inputs I am very satisfied.

Over the course of several years I've tried the VGA port with multiple PCs (even multiple OS's) and the video quality is terrible.

The picture is sharp but extremely dull and dim, increasing the brightness and contrast in the monitor's settings and the display settings for the video card do little to improve the picture quality. Following the instructions with Video Essentials yielded no improvement. I then systematically tried some of the other settings, again with no improvement.

While I found lots of other problems with this model I found nothing on the AVS forum that indicated a similar problem.

At this point I've given up and have decided to upgrade my HTPC hardware with a MoBo that includes a HDMI port. But funds are limited in this economical environment and I have to put that on hold.

In the meantime I do really want to connect my HTPC (mythbuntu) to my Sammy, can anyone make any suggestions other than calling a tech?

thanks in advance
Tim
