This is what I am working with:

I need a table to go behind the sofa that has media storage. The surround speakers will be replaced with Def Tech BPX wall mounts.

Any ideas on the table or somthing for the glass door, windows to help keep out light... or just other things to make it look nice?

simple curtins over the windows will help with the light and add some sound deadening to the room. Carefull choice of curtain color, maybe a brighter accent color will give the room some pizzaz. A classic "couch table", long and narrow, behind the couch and between the wall will give some flat space for a nice storage cabinet.

In your 5.1 setup, the surrounds are really more "side" speakers according to the Dolby Labs layout, mounting speakers flat on the rear wall will be a serious compromise in sound because there is no room between the wall and the listener to develope any kind of sound projection. So your speakers on stands are currently better located then your planned speakers.

I have added the following:

Rug

Tree

Things that are coming:

Console table by the sofa. Anyone have any suggestions for something about 5' wide and 3 or 4 feet tall? Media storage would be great.

Removing the old TV. Anyone want to buy a Sony HD tube?

Curtains for the door and windows. Should I totally ditch the blinds on the door?

I need something for the left wall behind the sofa. Any ideas?

Things I am thinking about:

Painting the recessed audio walls black.

Adding a 10" riser on top of the Salamander Synergy cabinet. This would raise the center channel another 10".

Things as they are now:

I would add the curtains to the door and leave the vertical blinds in place.

left wall behind the sofa is a good place for a queen anne sofa (or console) table, usually 14" to 16" wide table top.

I discovered that the name of the piece I want to get is a "Media Storage Credenza". It will go directly behind the sofa section that wraps into the room.

I am also looking at buying some replacement vertical blind veins. i was thinking of getting something in a darker color... and not plastic. Then i would add a valance and some kind of curtain. thoughts?
